Mrs. HODGE's Rites Today

Funeral for Mrs. H. T. HODGE, 70, long-time resident and church leader, will be held at the Evangelical Methodist Church Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. J. H. HAMBLEN, pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. HOODGE died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at her home, 340 Butternut St. She was born Maggie Francis PURSER in Caldwell County Nov. 16, 1877. She was married to Mr. HODGE in Lee County in 1892 and moved to Abilene in 1913.

Her husband operated theaters here and in other West Texas cities for many years. Her children and grandchildren now operate shows in Ballinger, Winters, Stamford, Merkel, Midland, and Odessa.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Dovie SCALES of Ballinger, Mrs. Presley NESMITH of Abilene, and Mrs. Ruth LAIRD of Odessa; and four sons, Homer J. HODGE of Winters, J. Howard of Midland, Sanford H. of Stamford, and Norman T. of Merkel.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. They are Homer HODGE Jr., of Winters, J. C. FOSTER of Odessa, Jack and Leonard SCALES of Ballinger, Robert Tom HODGE of Merkel, and Sanford J. HODGE Jr. of Stamford.
