Born in Amsterdam,Netherlands.

Son of Abraham Levy and Rachael Cornelia Bernard Levy. The family migrated to the United States via London, arriving at Boston Harbor in 1818, settling at Richmond, Virginia.

1830, Abraham married Maria A. Bishop.

Graduated from University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1832.

Albert Moses Levy practiced medicine in Pittsylvania County, Virginia until 1835. His wife Maria died that year, and Albert left Virginia traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana to visit his brother.

October 22,1835, Albert Moses Levy arrived in the Republic of Texas to volunteer as a Surgeon with the NEW ORLEANS GREYS.(The Unit was a group of Volunteers formed in New Orleans, leaving Louisiana on the steamer "Washita".) Albert served as Chief Surgeon in the Siege of Bexar (Dec. 1835) and later served on the BRUTUS in the Texas Navy. On April 17, 1837, Albert Levy's ship, the INDEPENDENCE, was captured by two Mexican navy ships near Velasco. After three (3)months of captivity, Albert was able to escape,walking across the Rio Grande River, into Texas. He began practicing medicine at Matagorda County. (It should be noted here, that Matagorda County is not straight across the border from Mexico).

April 4, 1838, Albert Moses Levy married Claudinia Olivia Gervais. They were the parents of 5 children.

May 1848, Albert Moses Levy died by his own hand.
