Bruce Crowley passed away peacefully with his wife Joyce and daughter Debbie by his side after a long battle with heart disease. Preceeded by his loving parents Emmett and Lola Crowley; survived and kept in the hearts of those who loved him, dearly beloved husband of Joyce; idolized father of Debbie and Angie; stepfather of Sarah, Nathaniel, Rebecca, Gerry, Greg, Andrea; father-in law of Edward Sr., Betty, and David; grandfather of Fallon, Casey, Shelby, Dale, Stephanie, Edward Jr., Steven, Conner, Angela, West; great-grandfather of Carolina, Gabriela, Jordyn, and Jadyn. All will surely miss him.
Bruce loved all sports, but racing was his passion. Bruce was a driver, owner and fan in the open-wheel racing community, served as announcer, publicist, and historian for many speedways throughout California and Nevada after his retirement from active racing. He hoped to pass on his love of racing to "the generation of tomorrow fan base" through the "Wall of Fame" events at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif., and "Hall of Fame" events at San Jose Speedway at the fairgrounds of San Jose, Calif.
In lieu of funeral services, a memorial race in honor of Bruce is being planned for April at Summit Raceway in Elko, Nev., and Winnemucca Raceway in Winnemucca Nev. For information or to donate to this event, please contact ECAR P.O. Box 1192 Elko NV 89803; Winnemucca Stock Car Division P.O. Box 526 Winnemucca NV 89446; or [email protected].
