W. I. Tucker Dies Following Extended Illness
William Irving Tucker, 80 years old, resident of Fort Smith well over half a century, died at 7:50 pm Sunday at a local hospital where he had been a patient since he suffered a heart at tack July 3. He had been in ill health the last year and a half and had been critically ill of the heart condition and its complications since he entered the hospital.

Mr Tucker lived at 3407 North Sixth Street. At his retirement several years ago he had been employed 48 years with the Federal Compress andWarehouse and had a wide acquaintance in the cotton industry in the southwest. He was first employed with the company during the cotton season and with Ward Ice Company during the summers. Later he became a fulltime employee of the compress company.

He was born in Dyer County, Tennessee December 30, 1867, the son of Stephens Tucker and Drusilla N. Wilson Tucker, His mother died when he was three months old. He came to Arkansas with his father and grandparents when he was a small child and had lived in this area practically his entire life. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World 51 years.

Survivors are his wife Emma Lena Tucker; a son W.E. Tucker, Pittsburgh, PA who is the son of Mr. Tucker's first wife the former Miss Addie Kidd; a half sister Miss Zella Tucker, Fort Smith an Aunt Mrs. Mila Sims, Poteau, Okla., a number of cousins in Texas, Oklahoma and California and several second cousins, one of whom is Bob Burns radio comedian.
