Jean "Bridget" Rondeau Purdy, 72, died Sept. 12, 2000, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington after a battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 1, 1928, in North Adams, Mass., daughter of Albert and Yudoshia (Holland) Rondeau.
She graduated from Drury High School and St. Luke's Nursing School in Pittsfield, Mass. She moved to Bennington in 1960. Prior to that she resided in both North Adams and Williamstown, Mass.
She married Robert Purdy of Bennington on May 15, 1980.
Mrs. Purdy was employed as a registered nurse at the North Adams Regional Hospital for many years. She retired in 1989 with more than 40 years of nursing service to the area.
She was an avid fisherwoman, fishing the Great Lakes on several occasions. She enjoyed making doll clothes and clothes for her teddy bears and collecting "Pippsywoggins" figurines.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Burt Lucier of Pownal, Mark Lucier of North Bennington and Daniel Lucier of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Donna Lucier of Reno, Nev., Debra Pinsonneault of Bennington and Palm Bay, Fla., and Laurie Pinsonneault of Arlington; a stepson, Richard Purdy of Woodford; two stepdaughters, Dale Sieferling and Tracy Martin of Shaftsbury; a brother, Albert Rondeau of North Adams, Mass.; three sisters, Dolly Richards of Williamstown, Mass., Vivian Dale and Lillian Wiles, both of North Adams, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Purdy was predeceased by two brothers, Nelson Rondeau and Buddy Rondeau.
