Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Big Horn Non-Denominational Church for Alvin Garber, 78, early day resident of the community, who died Friday.
Pastor Earl Patson of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate for the services and burial will be in the family plot in the Big Horn Cemetery. Champion's are in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Garber was born to David Garber and Magdalena Kinsinger Garber at Golden City, Mo., on Dec. 30, 1879, the tenth child in the family of 11. When 21 years of age, he came to Sheridan County with his sister, Lina Garber, a teacher.
After working at the Beckton Stock farm one summer, "Roy," as he was known, was employed at Moorcreiffe Brothers ranch at Big Horn until he went to Broadus, Mont., to homestead in 1904.
On July 18, 1911, he was married to Vie Willits of Big Horn where he ranched thereafter. Mr. Garber was an active member of the Big Horn Church and taught Sunday school for many years. He was also very active in the Democratic Party.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Orr Willits Garber and Victor Garber of Big Horn and Eugene Garber of Lamay, Mont. There are 13 grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. W. H. Purdy of Meeker, Colo., and one brother, Eugene S. Garber, Forest Grove, Mont. There are also a number of nephews and nieces surviving.
