I, 43rd U.S. Colored Troops, then promoted to corporal May 24, 1864, and to sergeant the following September 1. Along the way, the army deducted $6.19 from his pay to compensate for unspecified lost or damaged ordnance and another $.65 for a lost canteen. He honorably discharged with his company October 20, 1865, at Brownsville, Texas.

Jacob Anderson a well-known colored man died at his residence at the rear of 333 Jefferson Street yesterday after a lingering illness. He leaves a wife, 4 sons & 2 daughters. He was a member of the Frivley Post. The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon.
