Tom Taylor was the son of Edward Elam Taylor and Mary Susanna [Hendricks] Taylor. He married Maud Ruth Lewis on 10 August 1900, daughter of Reverend Jacob Clay Lewis and Emily Hester [Tate] Lewis. Reverend Lewis officiated the ceremony, which took place in Vera, Knox Co., TX. Tom and Maud, with their two children and her Lewis family moved in covered wagons to Gomez, Texas in 1904. Tom freighted from Midland and later from Lubbock, Tahoka and Post, Texas. He planted eleven acres of cane on the east side of Gomez, north of the cemetery and made sorghum molasses. The later moved west to New Mexico in 1913 and settled in Lea County. In their later years they lived in Seminole, Texas, where they lived out their lives. They were the parents of seven children.
