Grady P. Priest served as a combat medic with the 38th Armored Infantry Battalion, US 7th Armored Division during World War II. Enlisted March 8, 1942. Was killed in action ( anti-personnel mine ) near Ospel, Holland on November 5, 1944. Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, as well as the Bronze Star Medal for "distinguishing himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in France, from 17 September 1944 to 21 September 1944."

Temporarily interred at Henri Chapelle Cemetery, Belgium before being moved to Memphis National Cemetery in 1947.
