Archer Businessman, Harvey Bonness, Buried Saturday -
Funeral services for Harvey R. Bonness were held at the E.U.B. church on Saturday, March 30 with the minister Roger Kronholm in charge. Mr. Bonness died at his home in Archer on March 25 at the age of 64 years....Burial was in the Central City cemetery.
Harvey R. Bonness, son of Paul and Lydia Retzlaff Bonness was born at Archer on August 12, 1903. He received his formal education in the Archer public schools and the Central City high school where he graduated in 1921.
He was married to Marjorie Davis at Wolbach August 19, 1925. Their home was blessed with the birth of two children, Harold and Kathryn.
Harvey spent his entire life in the community of his birth. Immediately after his graduation from high school he joined his father in the general merchantile business at Archer. He was later joined by brothers Arthur and Elmer. After the death of their father in 1932 the sons continued as the "Bonness Brothers." Arthur eventually sold his interest and Ty and Harve carried on the place of business.
Harvey, a man of high moral principle would never compromise honest conviction. His home and family, his church and the people he served in his business were the primary concerns in his life.
He was a member of the Archer school board for more than twenty years; an officer of the Archer Co-op Credit Assn., from 1934 until 1968; a member of the Archer E.U.B. church where he served as church treasurer for 27 years; an active Mason and a worker in political circles.
Survivors include his widow, son Harold of Bellevue, daughter Mrs. George Ferris of Archer, 3 brothers, Arthur of Grand Island, Elmer of Archer and Quenten of Woodland Hills, Calif.; 3 sisters, Evelyn Bonness, Grosse Point, Michigan, Eleanor, Mrs. Gerald Mattson, Central City and Wauneta, Mrs. Donald Frazier, Archer, and six grandchildren. Preceding him in death were both parents and a brother, Orville.
