Otto R. Arp was born August 24, 1908, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Richard and Minnie Arp. He graduated from Rock Island High School and the Rock Island Business College.
He married Dorothy Oppendike in 1933 in Dixon, IL. He was a Prudential Insurance agent for 12 years, and then was employed as office manager of Bradley Manufacturing, Rock Island.
He had done volunteer work at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, for many years. He started the flower garden there and made a patio for the residents to enjoy. He enjoyed his family, flower garden and yard.
He passed away at the age of 93 Wednesday, September 19, 2001 at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Private services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. A memorial was established for the American Heart Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diana Coelho, Moline; a son, Jon Arp, Bagley, WI; grandchildren, Jon Coelho, Christine Deel, Kimberly Arp-Barnett and Shari Shrum and Zachary Arp-Barnett. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jon Arp II, two brothers and six sisters.
