Wife of Seth L. FordSeraph (mistakenly spelled Serath on gravestone) was the daughter of Brigham Hamilton Young and Cedenia Ceyphonia Clark, and also the great-niece of Mormon leader, Brigham Young. The Utah Territorial Legislature passed a law legalizing "woman suffrage" on 12 February 1870, and on Valentine's Day, 14 February 1870, Seraph Young became the first woman to legally vote in the United States, when she cast her vote in Salt Lake City's municipal election.
