Known to her friends and family as "Millie". Her parents moved to Manhattan, New York with her big sister, Miriam, when Millie was about 5 years old and lived in NYC for the rest of her life. She went to Catholic School for 12 years and graduated from Lehman College in the Bronx with a degree in social work. Millie worked in Roosevelt Hospital and St. Claire's hospital, sometimes simultaneously for over 20 years. She was fondly popular among staff and patients. She loved traveling. She had a fear of flying, so all of her traveling in the U.S. and Canada was done via train. Her favorite Beatle was Paul McCartney and one of her favorite movie stars was Robert Redford. She loved going out dancing with friends, as well as restaurants, movies, and Broadway shows. Millie was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1999 and died from the disease the following year. She is survived by her mother, Benita, her sister Miriam, her cousin Eric Cardona, and her daughter Cristina Lugo. Millie was cremated in New Jersey and her ashes buried in Puerto Rico per her request. Her father, Ismael Cintron, who died in New York City four years later, was also cremated and buried in the same plot.
