OBITUARY -dated April 5th, 1928
William L. Goings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Goings was born in Blackhawk county Iowa March 10, 1855. At the age of 20 years he, with his parents moved to Smith County Kansas. Here, in the neighborhood of Franklin Nebraska and Reamsville Kansas, he lived out a well rounded life in service to God, his many friends and a large family.
He was married to Lucinda White, September 10th 1877; to this union was born nine children, Frank having gone before him, March 22, 1910. His good wife also preceded him in death January 7 1915.
Those remaining are: Myrtle Brandfas, Paris Allen, Telva Nyberg all of Franklin Nebraska; Eugene of Ruleton Kans; Walter of Greenwood, Nebr; Arthur of Brewster, Kansas; Floyd of Waneta Nebraska and Edgar of Louisville, Nebraska. Besides these he leaves 26 grand children, two sisters, Mary Ann Garner of Apache Oklahoma and Jane Trinhill of Colorado; one brother Edd Goings of Franklin and other relatives and a host of friends who will feel deeply the void made by his going.
Very early in young manhood he united with the church of Christ to which vows he lived faithfully and consistently unto death. While contributing of his strength and influence to community activities his greater interest was that of the church. Few people of his large acquaintance but felt the gentle sway of his sincere Christian life. The State Line Church stands a realization of his fond dream to implant the simple Gospel of the Christ in the hearts of the community. His accumulation of earthly wealth is small, but be bequeathed a heritage far greater than all earthly treasure, that of a Christian life and influence.
He shall be missed by all his fluence shall still live in many hearts.
He passed from this life, Monday, April 2nd 1928; aged 72 yrs and 22 days.
