Vivian B. Godfrey, 84, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008, at Wisteria Gardens Nursing Home in Pearl, MS.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2008, before the 12:30 p.m. funeral service at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson.

Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Vivian was born and raised near Pittsburgh, PA.

She married Arthur John Godfrey in 1946.

They lived a short time in Houston, TX before moving to Jackson in 1952. That year they joined Alta Woods Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women In the Church, Bible School, a Circle leader, and member of the Builder's Class.

She was a Charter member of the South Jackson Civic League, South Stitchery, Monday Morning Play House, Wimodausis Book Club, co-leader of Girl Scouts for ten years and worked part-time at the Tax Collector and Assessor office in Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Godfrey.

She is survived by her three children, Candy Lee Blue and husband, Steve, Robert Lawrence Godfrey and Lauren Gille Freeman and husband, Frank; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
