According to my mother, Dorothy Pohl Clement, they were fleeing from the authorities because they were fomenting a revolution. Dorothy was the daughter of Mathilde Scheibe, daughter of Gottlieb Scheib & Christiane Gottliebin Balzin in Murrhardt.
