Gladys Steele Palmer, 82, of Osgood, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Waters of Ross Manor in Dillsboro.
Born June 26, 1925, in Osgood, she was the daughter of Clyde and Bertha Rose Webster. She married Albert Steele, and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. She married Sylvanus Palmer in 1996, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Ralph (wife, Charlotte) Steele of Fairland, Leigh (wife, Cheryl) Steele and Glenn (wife, Brenda) Steele, both of Versailles, Norman Steele of Stanford, N.C., and Terry Steele of Indianapolis; daughter, Sandy (husband, Paul) Clayton of Holton; stepdaughter, Betty Culp of Oregon City, Ore.; brother, Earl Beach of Midway, Ohio; sister, Esther Delay of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Jean; grandson, Jeff Steele; and great-grandson, Rion Dale Steele.
Mrs. Palmer was formerly employed at US Shoe in Osgood and retired in 1988 after 18 years of service as dietitian at Muscatatuck State Development Center.
She was a member of Versailles Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Versailles Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with Dale Day officiating.
Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison.
