Fred Fields, 76, of Central Avenue, died at 1:55 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Fields retired from Golden Foundry in 1995 where he served for 35 years. He attended Lowell General Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He enjoyed gardening, wood working, fishing and spending time with family.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon to service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Mr. Fields was born July 12, 1932 in Letcher County, Kentucky, the son of Grant and Jane Miles Fields. He married Iona Byrd April 2, 1956.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bryon Fields; daughters, Kathy (Gary) Hatton and Debbie Aldridge, all of Columbus; a brother, EdNeil (Faye) Fields; sisters, Carol Ann (Kendall) Ison, Mary Lou Fields and Hazel (Earl) Rayburn, all of Letcher County, Kentucky; grandchildren, Chad (Hanna) Fields, Casey Fields, Lindsay Fields, Joshua (Stephanie) Aldridge, Micheal Aldridge, Jason (Heather) Hatton and Bradley Hatton; and four great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Gay and Douglas Fields; a sister, Helen York and an infant sister.
