Vincent Francis Grupposo
(February 18, 1922 - November 21, 2008)

Mr. Vincent Francis Grupposo, 86, of Jesup died early Friday morning at his residence. He was born in Natick, Massachusetts to the late Joseph Grupposo and Annie Bernardino Grupposo. Mr. Grupposo had made his home in Waycross since 1942 before moving to Jesup four years ago.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, and later retired with the United States National Guard. He worked for twenty two years with Hiers Lumber Company in Waycross, before moving into the insurance field. Mr. Grupposo retired as an agent for Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company after twenty years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Throughout his life Mr. Grupposo enjoyed and participated in athletics. He went to Providence University in Rhode Island on a football scholarship. He also was a member of the Waycross Bears baseball team. He also had a great love for playing golf and the saxophone. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Altman Grupposo, his second wife, Wynelle Bennett Grupposo, a brother, Salvie Grupposo, and two sisters, Anita Webb and Ibby Fumia.

Mr. Grupposo is survived by a son, Jimmy Grupposo of Fernandina Beach, Florida, a daughter, Terry Warren and her husband Rick of Jesup, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister, Lucy Grupposo of Natick, Massachusetts and many friends and other relatives.

A Mass of the Resurrection to celebrate the life of Vincent Grupposo will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Rosary service will be held at 5 pm with visitation following until 7 pm, Sunday at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
