Former Street Superintendent John L. Goodsell died at the Kingston City Hospital Saturday evening, aged 74 years. Mr. Goodsell, while at work on the roof of the residence of Alfred T. Ashby, No. 18 Ponckhockie Street, fell from a ladder and sustained a fractured skull.
He was one of the best known men in Kingston and served the city as alderman of the old Third Ward for several years. During the administration of Mayor Crane he served as Street Superintendent. During the Civil War he served with a regiment from Orange County.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Alfred Tongue, Miss Irene Goodsell and Mrs. Frank McCausland; two sons, Detective Homer Goodsell of the West Shore Railroad, and Edward Goodsell; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Quigley and Mrs. Henry Smith; and one brother, Harmon Goodsell.

The funeral will be held from the late residence, No. 259 Delaware Avenue, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with interment in the family plot in Montrepose Cemetery.
