Samuel Cox was the son of Isaac Cox and Elizabeth Amy Unknown. He enlisted as a Private on March 10, 1862 in Company "A" of the 43rd Georgia Infantry Regiment, CSA also known as The Cherokee Van Guards. He died of Typhoid fever in a camp hospital.
