OBITUARY :
JOHN WILLIAM BARNES SUMMERS, a well-known farmer, died at his home at Old Braddock, where he has resided for 50 years, at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon of complications, after a lingering illness lasting over nine months, aged 61 years, 2 months and 1 day.
Mr. Summers was the only son of the late William H. and Clara Barnes Summers, originally from Middletown Valley, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Baker Summers, and the following children: Mrs. Paul H. Byer, Hagerstown; John Arthur Summers, near Braddock; Richard E. Summers, Baltimore; Grace Rebecca and Paul H. Summers, both at home. Also surviving are three grandsons.
Mr. Summers was a member of the Lutheran church. He was an ardent Democrat and took a great interest in politics. For a number of years he was a member of the Democratic Central committee. His entire life was spent in farming.
The funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock with services at his late home at Old Braddock. Burial will be made in Mt. Olivet cemetery. C. E. Cline and Son funeral director.
