Mildred Baker Byer, wife, of Paul H. Byer, Hagerstown, died at the Washington County Hospital Friday of complications, after a brief illness. She was 55 years old.
Born in Old Braddock. Frederick county, she was the daughter of the late John W. B., and Grace R. Baker Summers, who survives.
A member of the Zion United Church of Christ, she was active as a member of the church choir and served many years as a Sunday school teacher. She had lived in Hagerstown for 32 years.
Among her other activities was the Women's Club of Hagerstown where she was particularly active in the garden section.
In addition to her mother and husband she is survived by one son, Rev. Paul H. Byer, Reading, Pa. Other survivors include: a sister, Mrs. Grace Rebecca Stone, Buckeystown, and brothers: John Arthur Summers, Richard E. Summers, all of Old Braddock.

The body was removed to the A. K. Coffman funeral home where friends may call Sunday after 7 p.m. Funeral services from the home Monday at 2 p.m. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
