John C. Calhoun's biological parents are Marlen Anderson Calhoun and Martha L. Tucker. They had a son on this same date. They divorced, and their son, John C. Calhoun then appeared many years later on the census of James W. Calhoun married to Susan stating "son - ad" as in "adopted.

"John C. Calhoun, 72, of Canfield, died Thursday night at Health-haven, where he had been a patient for a week. He had been ill four months. Born in Warren, Nov. 24, 1880, he came to Canfield from Ohltown with his parents, Windsor and Susan Maurer Calhoun, when a small boy. Following his graduation from the N.E.O.N.C., in 1903, he began a sales career. Later he went to Detroit, Mich., where for over 40 years he was associated with the Fabricon Corporation. Following his retirement in 1950, he and his wife, the former Mabel Wiggins of Sarnia, Ontario, whom he married August 1, 1918, came to Canfield to make their home.
Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian church, Kiwanis, Community and Tippecanoe Clubs. A sister, Mrs. William J. Miller, died last July. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Harold W. Kaser, were held Monday afternoon at the Williams Funeral Home, and burial made in the Canfield cemetery."
