MONROE-We are again mixed to record the death of one our towns people, Mr. J. E. Swain.

Sunday Mr. Swain went to Sevier Canyon with his son, John, and his family, and a number of friends. On returning they went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Newby, to spend the evening. Just as they were going to have supper Mr. Swain was suddenly taken with hemorrhage of the lungs and died before a phyisican arrived.

The deceased leaves six children to mourn his loss--John Ray, Lamar, Bert Lottie and Mrs. Vera Hansen. Mrs. Swain died several years ago.

At the time of his death Mr. Swain was a member of the town board. He has also been connected wit the Pavillion Company for many years.

The funeral services were held in the North Ward Chapel Wednesday at 2 O'clock. Bishop W.O. Lundgreen presided. The North Ward Choir, under the leadership of F.B. Gould, rendered a beautiful selections. The speaker were J.E. Magebly, Jos. A. Smith, Arthur Livingstone and W.O. Lundgreen. Resolutions of respect, written by the high school, were read, several of Mr. Swain's sons and daughters having attended that institution. The floral offerings were very beautiful.

Mr. and Mrs. Bird Swain, Mr. Will Swain, and Mrs. Susan Childs, of Gunnison, were here to attend the funeral.
