Funeral services for Aurel "Buster" Bruening, 67, of Shelby, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby with the Rev. John David Nedbalek officiating. Interment will follow in Shelby Cemetery. Friends may call the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry where the family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today.

Aurel Roger "Buster" Bruening was born March 22, 1940 near Carmine, the son of Robert Henry Bruening, Sr. and Aleitha (Kaltwasser) Bruening. He was baptized on April 28, 1940 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine by the Rev. Brunotte and confirmed on April 3, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby by Rev. Doerr. He was a 1958 graduate of Carmine High School, received his associate of arts degree from Blinn College and attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. He married Carolyn Schmid on Oct. 28, 1961 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby. "Buster" was a lifetime resident of the Shelby area and was the owner and operator of Shelby Store. His memberships included St. Paul Lutheran Church at Shelby, Shelby VFD, and Shelby Sons of Hermann Lodge No. 28.
