John G. Mamminga, 83, longtime Kamrar resident, died at 2:30 am. Sunday [July 6, 1952] at his farm home three-quarters of a mile east of Kamrar. His death was sudden, due to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar, preceded by a brief service at the family home at 1 o'clock. The Rev. August Cramer will officiate with burial being made in the family lot in the Presbyterian cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until Tuesday noon when it will be taken to the family home.

John G. Mamminga, son of Geerd and Jantje Mamminga, was born May 14, 1869 in Emden, Germany. When he was 12 years old he came with his parents to the United States and they located at Webser [Webster] City where they resided for two years. The family moved to the farm three-quarters miles east of Kamrar, where he had spent the rest of his life.

He was united in marriage April 3, 1897 to Gepke Johnson. Mrs. Johnson [Mamminga] preceded him in death in 1947. He was also preceded in death by three daughters, his parents and three sisters. He is survived by five sons and five daughters: George Mamminga of Webster City; Reinder Mamminga of Jewell; John, Jr., of Alden; Carl Mamminga of Kamrar; Milton Mamminga of Woolstock; Mrs. Lena Olthoff of Webster City; Mrs. Fred (Jennie) Welp of Webster City; Mrs. Eilt (Grace) Klaver of Kamrar; Mrs. George H. (Marie) Klaver of Kamrar and Mrs. Harm (Esther) Klaver, also of Kamrar; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was baptized in the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Presbyterian church of Kamrar.

A kindly and considerate man whose main interests in life were his home and family, Mr. Mamminga had made countless friends in the Kamrar community during his long residence there.
