Mrs. Leona Witherington Flaniken of 769 North Evergreen, wife of John C. Flaniken, co-owner of Smith Lumber Co., at 593 North Avalon, died at 4:45 a.m. yesterday in a Jackson, Tenn., hospital. Born in Munford, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.B. Witherington. She moved to Memphis in 1920. She was a member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church. She also leaves a son, Dr. John C. Flaniken of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Beers of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Dr J. C. Witherington of Covington, Tenn.; six sisters, Mrs. L.H. Wiley, Mrs. E.H. Wooten, Mrs. O.S. McCormick and Mrs. B.S. McCullough of Munford, Mrs. J.C. McQuiston of Covington, and Mrs. C.R. McLaughlin of Memphis, and five grandchildren.
