AKA: Johannes Botolvson "Jon Bottleson" Tennefoss

Jon Bottleson, as he was often known in Minnesota, was born on the Tennefoss farm in Sogn og Fjordane, in one of the world's most beautiful fjords. He emigrated to the US in 1846, at the age of 28.

He married Brita Hansdatter Svardal, who emigrated in 1851, and together they had three daughters, two of whom lived to adulthood. Hansene, the youngest, died at age 12 and it is said she is buried close to a fence post on the farm, by the house. One of Hansene's sister, Anna's daughters was also named Hansene.

Jon was a talented farmer, carpenter as well as architect. He helped to design and build South Zumbro Lutheran Church. This information was provided by his g.grandson, Jerry Neseth.

Jon and Brita purchased their 40 acre farm from Brita's sister and brother-in-law, Johannes and Kari Svardal Fjerstad, and lived next to them and Brita's brother Per Hansson Svardal the rest of their lives.

Jon, his wife, and son-in-law, Tollef Neseth all died within 2 years of one another.

Jon, his wife Brita, daughter, Kristene and son-in-law Tollef Neseth are buried at S. Zumbro, sharing one headstone.
