GLEN FORK — Ollie Lucille Acord, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 21 days at her residence following a long illness. Mrs. Acord was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Wyoming County, and a charter member of the Glen Fork Baptist Temple. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be dearly missed.

Born July 5, 1912, at Montcalm, she was the daughter of the late James "Jim" W. Sanders (1872-1932) and Victoria Elizabeth Harmon-Sanders (1882-1964). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Alden Acord (1904-1988) whom she married on December 23, 1933 in Pineville, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1933, Page 240, Application Date: December 23, 1933); her precious granddaughter, Joni Elizabeth Powers (Deceased); siblings, Challie Sanders (1902-1987), Croba Sanders (1900-1964), Lawrence Carroll Sanders (1906-Deceased), James Sanders (Deceased), Ray Sanders (1910-1979), Georgia Sanders-Sigmon (Deceased), Ruth Sanders-Southerland-Kahle (Deceased), Ruby Sanders-Cook (Deceased), Margaret Sanders-Jewell (Deceased) and Jack Sanders (Deceased).

Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Glenna Laura Acord-Powers (B. 1934) & husband Joseph "Elwood" Powers (1933-2020) of Glen Fork; two sons, James Acord & wife Sally Acord of Lockport, NY, and William Acord & wife Sue Acord of Alden, MI; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

A celebration of Mrs. Acord's life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Glen Fork Baptist Temple with the Rev. Randy Acord and the Rev. Brian Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
