Daughter of August & Louise Timm (their tombstone inscribed "Thimm"). Born in Pennsylvania. Aged: 9y, 6m. Accidently drowned in the Sangamon River along with her cousin Emma Kupisch, aged 16.

Emma Kupisch of Bissell and Lizzie Timms of Springfield Die Together - Wading beyond their depth off a sand bar in the Sangamon river, in the presence of five companions, two girls were drowned at a point one and one-half miles north of Bissell at dusk last evening. The dead, Emma Kupisch, 16 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Kupisch, of Bissell, formerly of 100 North Fourteenth street, and Lizzie Timms, 9 years old; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Timms, 1214 North Fourteeth street. The double drowning, which brings the total number of victims to be claimed by the Sangamon this season to four occurred in the presence of five little girls, and members of the Kupisch family. They ran to a nearby house to give the alarm, but when aid arrived the bodies of the two had gone down for the last time.

Emma Kupisch, larger and stronger than her companion, took the little girl by the arms, and marched along the sand bar. She had journeyed but a short distance when she came to a stepoff twelve feet deep. Unable to release her grip upon her playmate, the two went down. There was a brief struggle, the other members of the party told county authorities. The Kupisch girl, and her five sisters were entertaining Lizzie Timms, who had been their constant companion while the Kupisch family lived in Springfield. They moved to Bissell only two days ago. They planned the wading party early in the afternoon, and the seven went to the river at dusk. The Kupisch family had been residents of Springfield for some time, and resided in North Fourteenth street. They removed a few days ago to Bissell to reside on the Harris farm and the Timms girl accompanied them for a visit. The Kupisch girl is one of a family of ten children. Her companion, who lost her life in the water, was a twin.

Elizabeth Themm is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. August Themm, three sisters, Frieda, Marie and Emma, and three brothers Charles, Albert and Henry, all residing at home. IL State Journal/Register, Springfield, IL 8-16-1914
