She was first married in 1873 in Stony Creek, Madison County, Indiana to a William A. Lawson (b. abt. 1856, d. aft. 1930). Together Elizabeth and William had two children: Morris H. Lawson (b. 1874, d. 1969) and Odessa Lawson (b. 1876, d. bef. 1900) who were both were born in Stony Creek, Madison County, Indiana. Elizabeth and William were divorced before the 1880 Census. According to the census records Elizabeth and her two children lived with her brother, Hugh Mc Ellis prior to her second marriage.
Elizabeth married a second time in 1888 to a Charles W. Olcott (b. 1862, d. 1951). Elizabeth and Charles migrated from Iowa to Nebraska and then on to Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon where they lived until they both died.
Together Elizabeth and Charles had two children: Susie Olcott (b. 1890) and Charles Ell Olcott (b. 1893, d. 1987) both were born in Nebraska.
