Bishop Leonard Q. Duncan, 81, of 2120 Duncan Road, Stonefort, died 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind.
Funeral services will be held noon Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the First Church of God in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Camp Victory Youth Camp and may be left at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery with Dr. Bishop Raymond Captville officiating.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1927, in Elizabethtown to the late Leonard and Minnie (Barker) Duncan Sr. He married the former Donna Williams on June 10, 1950, and she survives.
He was a member of the First Opportunity Free Will Baptist Church in Carrier Mills and an Army veteran. He was pastor at Mt. Horeb Free Will Baptist Church in Metropolis for the past 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Duncan of Stonefort; four daughters, Vera (Garrison) Newsom of Chicago, Belinda (Sam) Watkins of Anderson, Ind., Mona (Prentiss) Crim of Stonefort and Regina Williams of Lancaster, Texas; two sons, Donnie Duncan of Carrier Mills and Jesse (Shirley) Rouse of Harrisburg; a brother, Galen Duncan of Harrisburg; six sisters, Mildred Rouse of Waukegan, Ressie Thomas of North Chicago, Juanita Jones of Gurnee, Avalon Portee of Maywood, Barbara Duncan of Carrier Mills and Nadine Collins of Evansville, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Dennis Duncan; and a sister, Beulah Bluford.
