James Warren Beers Brief Sketch

James Warren Beers was born April 3, 1881. He attended school in Pleasant Grove district and also in Vernal.

He was a master mechanic. He could build an entire house--doing all the work necessary. He was very thorough in his work and was very kind in his disposition. He possessed a very fine tenor voice but was unable to afford to have it trained.

When he lived in Pleasant Grove with his family his bishop said he didn't have one man in the ward who contributed so much time and work for the poor, widows and the sick. All he wanted in return was thanks. When his work took him among those who were not of his faith he was fearless in defending the Gospel. He married Emma Sina Freestone in Vernal and they later had the marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of seven children.

She died April 12, 1935, and he died October 23, 1943 and was buried beside his wife in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
