Josephine, born 28 May 1851 in Ozark Co., MO, was a daughter of Samuel Junius Forest (1830-1901) and Marinda Lantz (1831-1917). She married Robert Quincy Gilliland, a son of Robert Gilliland, 10 December 1868 in Ozark County, MO. Their children were John Houston, Samuel Harrison, Orlena "Lena", Charles Leroy, Edgar Quinton, Byran Vaughn, Robert Otis, Orena, and Cora, who died at the age of 2.

The inscription pictured is on the side of her husband's monument.
