Funeral of Mr Dowdy
Funeral services for Russell Aubrey Dowdy, who died Sunday at his home at 131 Seaboard Avenue, South Norfolk, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Chesapeake Avenue Methodist church by the pastor, Rev L.D. Stables, Rev Charles Straughn,Rev C.S. Sawyer of the South Norfolk Baptist Church, and Rev. O.D. Poythress of the South Norfolk Christian Church. Mr. Poythress sang. There was an large attendance and there were many beautiful flowers. Delegations from Tidewater Council No. 30 Jr.
O.U.A.M. and Goodwill Council No.5, Daughters of America attended. The Pallbearers were Vaden Parron, S.S. Sattlethight, Stanley Adkins, Nathan Dowdy, Charles Creech, E.T. Humphries, J.E. Sawyer and W.J. Lassiter. Burial was in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.
