MILLBURY - Dean J. Adams, 54, of 20 Elmwood Ave., died at home after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.
He left his wife of 29 years, Shirley E. (Rydberg) Adams; two daughters, Karen L. Spirito of Burlington, Conn., and Donna R. Adams of San Francisco; his parents, Carlton D. Adams of Mattapoisett and Shirley B. (Walker) Adams of Worcester; four brothers, Ronald P. Adams of Fiskdale, Peter J. Adams of Spencer, Jeffrey S. Adams of Douglas and Mark P. Adams of Berlin; aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A twin brother, Dennis M. Adams, died in 1993. He was born in Worcester and lived in West Boylston most of his life before moving to Millbury 25 years ago. He graduated from South High School in Worcester in 1961. He attended Worcester Junior College. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Adams was a machinist at the R & A Machine Company in Worcester for 15 years. He also worked for the Sjogren Tool and Machine Company in Auburn for many years. He owned and operated Kilo Blanchand Grinding Company in Rochdale for 11 years, retiring in 1996 due to illness.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hosting children from the Fresh Air Fund. He was a platelet donor for 15 years.
A funeral service was held in the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours were held at the Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Mass., 120 Thomas St., Worcester 01608.
