He was born on May 14, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Melville and Nellie (Gray) Hall. Both are deceased.
After graduating from Danville High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1950-1954. After the Air Force, he worked at the former Palmer American National Bank in Danville as operations supervisor, retiring after 39 years.
Richard was active in the community, including being a member of the Danville United Church of Christ, the Danville American Legion Post #210, and past member of the Danville Light Opera, serving as president from 1965-1966.
He is survived by his sister, Sara (Bob) Cox of Oakwood; his three nieces, Debra Wilson of Oakwood, Susan (Tom) Siegel of Kokomo, Ind., and Peggy (Chad) Barnes of Ogden, Ill.; and his great-nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by his good friends, Jim Curry, Pat French, Josephine Reed and John and Mary Ann Young, all of Danville, and Hubert Myers of Texas. His great-niece, Ashley Wilson, preceded Richard in death.
