He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. J.O. Briles, Milford Rt. 2. He is a graduate of Milford High School.
James O. Briles, Jr. entered the service January 18, 1943. He received his basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas. Later he was transferred to Fort Myers, FL. where he received training as an aerial gunner and upon completion of this training received aerial gunners wings. From Fort Myers he was sent to Salt Lake City, Utah where he was stationed for awhile. Then to Davis Monthan Field at Tucson, AZ. at which place he took advanced training as an aerial gunner in actual flying operations.
