Allen Mitchell Fleet b: 24 Jun 1956 d: in 3 May 1991

Young "Mitch" Fleet's death was a shock to everyone. His uncle's services had occurred on Tues. and "Mitch" died the following Friday, just three days later.

At the age of 21, Mitch started his first corporation, Organ Power Pizza.

He was Co-Owner of San Diego Organ Company, Inc., with his partner, Wendell Shoberg, at the time of his death.

He also was also heavily involved with making movies with his father, Preston Fleet.

FLEET Allen Mitchell, age 34, died May 3rd, 1991, son of Yolanda Fleet and Preston Fleet, grandson of Reuben H. Fleet. He worked as a volunteer at the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater, and served as a member of the film crew for Roger Chilton Films and Fleet Films. He worked on the first Omnimax film productions for the Space Theater. He was Secretary & Treasurer of the annual Mission Bay Thunderboat Races. He was an officer of the Pierce-Arrow Society and was on the Board of Directors. Memorial service at Escondido Community Church of Religious Science, 1860 E. Valley Pkwy, Escondio (between Midway & Rose), 1 pm. Friday May 10th, 1991. In lieu of flowers, donations to the educational fund, Escondido Humane Society and the Allen Mitchell Fleet F und at the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater and Science Center.

Allen Mitchell Fleet, a grandson of the late namesake of the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater in Balboa Park, died May 3 in a hospital. He was 34.

Memorial services were yesterday in Escondido Community Church of Religious Science. Cremation was planned by the Neptune Society, with ashes to be given to the family.


Allen Fleet, a native and a lifetime resident of the county, lived in Escondido, was a member of the Roger Chilton Films and Fleet Films crews and had worked on early Omnimax film productions of the theater, where he was a volunteer. Among his work was an educational film about a total eclipse of the sun that was shot in Africa.

He was a licensed commercial pilot, a member of the Pierce Arrow Society, and secretary and treasurer of the annual Mission Bay Thunderboat Races, was associated with the San Diego Theater Organ Society and the Ames Musical Museum, and volunteered for the Fund for Animals.

Mr. Fleet was a 1976 graduate of Culver Military Academy, where he was the academy photographer and a member of the chorus.

Survivors include his parents, Yolanda Fleet of Escondido and Preston Fleet of Santa Maria, Calif. The family suggested donations to the Escondido Humane Society Education Fund, 3000 Las Palmas Ave., Escondido; or the Allen Mitchell Fleet Fund, Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater and Science Center, P.O. Box 33303, San Diego 92163.
