Juanita (Copeland) Watts, a lifelong resident of Sallisaw was born October 23, 1915 in Sequoyah County, Ok. to James Andrew Copeland and Lillie Maudella (Patterson) Copeland. Juanita was raised in the Brent and Copeland community, and attended schools in both places. Juanita was employed for 32 years as a sales clerk for Mayo's and Gertrude Department Stores and retired as manager of Christy's Shoes for Bill and Gladys Whittenburgh out of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. The store was located in Sallisaw at Hunts Department Store. She was a very kind and generous person who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was known for her good home cooking, especially her hot biscuits, homemade dinner rolls, dressing, chicken and dumplings and chocolate gravy for her grandkids. These were always holiday favorites. Her son Jimmy worked
for the City of Sallisaw as Street Superintendent and any time there was a department dinner, a request was made by his employees for his Mother's Chicken and Dressing and delicious German Chocolate or Italian Coconut
Cream Cake.

Juanita loved to work in her flower and vegetable garden. She also loved picking blackberries and wild plums to make her own jelly and homemade cobblers.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents: James and Lillie Copeland
one sister: Iva Caves, and 2 brothers: Orville Copeland and Wayne Pittman

Juanita was baptized as a young teenage girl. She had attended the First Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Oakridge Assembly of
God Church.

The joy of her life was her family. She will be greatly missed and remain in their hearts forever with such fond memories. She was a lady of grace, dignity
and uncomplaining.

Juanita is survived by her son, Jimmy Watts and his wife Ellen of Sallisaw, Ok., 2 daughters: Wynona (Watts) Sheppard of Sallisaw, Ok., and Jessie (Benge) White and her husband Wayne of Tulsa, Ok., 3 grandchildren: Randy Wayne Sheppard of Sallisaw, Ok., Michael James Watts and his wife Susan of Dardenne Prairie, Mo., and Michelle Lea (Watts) Reamy and her husband Andrew of Tahlequah, Ok., one great granddaughter: Maycie Jamae Watts of Dardenne Prairie, Mo., many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakridge Assembly of God in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
