ROCHESTER -- Memorial services for Carlyn J. Biel will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rochester. Private family committal services will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Biel, 83, of Beaumont, Calif., died Oct. 30, 2008, at his daughter's home in Beaumont.

Born April 9, 1925, in Cresco, Iowa, he graduated from Preston High School. He married Margaret M. Alberts on Feb. 6, 1948, and they farmed in the Rochester area for 30 years. In retirement the couple moved to Port Charlotte, Fla. His wife died in 2002 of complications from leukemia.

Mr. Biel was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rochester and was an associate member of Hope Lutheran Church of Gulf Cove in Port Charlotte. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and golf.

Survivors include two daughters, three sons, 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dorothy (Ellingson) Biel; and an infant grandson.

Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
