Husband of Martha Witmer, son of Daniel Pletcher and Eliza Champman

Pletcher, Franklin, was born at Niagara Falls, September 25, 1849, and is a son of Daniel Pletcher, a pioneer farmer of that place. Mr. Pletcher was educated in the public schools at Niagara Falls. and at the Lockport Union School; in 1869 he left school and went to work on his fathers farm. In 1881 he removed to the village of Suspension Bridge, where he became an inspector of customs at the Custom House, and continued in that capacity until 1886, when he established his present business, that of flour, feed and grain. October 2, 1879, he married Martha E. Witmer, daughter of Joseph and Catharine Witmer, of the town of Niagara, and they have one daughter, Edith M.

Franklin Pletcher, Old Resident, Dies
Had Active Career During His Seventy-two Years Along Frontier
The death of Franklin Pletcher at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Eshelman, No. 1632 Niagara avenue, last evening, removes from the local field of activity a long time resident and Native Niagaran. Mr. Pletcher is survived by his wife and daughter of this city and one brother, Albert, of Angola, and two sisters, Mrs. Eliza J. Ingersoll of Milwaukee, Wis., and Miss Sarah Pletcher of Lowell, Michigan. He was born at Pletcher's Corners, near this city 72 years ago and 42 years ago he moved into this city. For several years he had a flour and feed store on North Main street and also served in the U.S. Customs. When he was stricken with his last illness, in April, he was in the employ of the American Salesbook company. He was a man of sterling character and highly respected in the community. Funeral will be help at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Eshelman home, the Rev. G. E. Bates Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Riverdale.
