Born in Hartford on May 6, 1928, daughter of the late Howard and Mabel (McKinnon) Root, she had lived in South Windsor for the last 49 years. Carolyn had been employed at the Travelers Insurance Company, Hartford and was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. She was a prolific reader and enjoyed soap operas and western movies.
In addition to her husband, Len her husband of 59 years, she leaves a son, Thomas J. Roy and his wife, Regine of Pottstown, PA and Deborah McAloney and her husband, James of South Windsor; a brother, William Root and his wife, Jane of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Joan Hooper of East Berlin and Sally Marinelli and her husband, John of Rocky Hill; two grandchildren, James "JT" McAloney and Sarah McAloney; a sister-in-law, Sister Mary Ruth Roy of Hartford; many nieces and nephews and a close family friend, Joey Uccello of Manchester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor.
Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.
