Keith Lewis Poole SALISBURY - Keith Lewis Poole, 86, of 1965 Poole Road, Salisbury, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, following an illness of three and one-half months. Born in Rowan County on February 21, 1920, he was a son of the late L. C. "Dick " Poole and Ada Smith Poole. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a graduate of Rockwell High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the South Pacific, during World War II for three and one-half years. He worked for twenty-five years for Macanal Mills, and later worked for North Carolina State Highway maintenance department for a number of years before retiring. Mr. Poole was a member of St. Matthew 's Lutheran Church. Mr. Poole was preceded in death by two children, Richard Keith Poole and Barbara Poole Hurley; a sister, Marie Poole Kesler; and a brother, Joseph Harold Poole. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Marie Cranford Poole; daughter, Judy Poole Vestal and husband, Frank of Kernersville; and a son, Larry W. Poole and his wife, Naomi of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Angelica Poole Hovater and Dustin Poole, Jennifer Vestal and Kevin Hurley; two great-grandchildren, Katlyn Hovater and Tyler Hovater. Visitation : 10-11 a.m. today at Summersett Funeral Home. Service : 11 a.m. today at Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Providence United Methodist Church, with military honors conducted by the Rowan County Honor Guard. The Rev. Dan Gobble, minister of Providence United Methodist Church and the Rev. Gary Coble, minister of St. Matthew 's Lutheran Church will officiate.
