Sarah "Sally" Hopper, 73, passed away early Sunday morning May 27, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on Dec. 8, 1938, in Jerseyville, the daughter of Charles Henry and Roberta Lewis Hughes. She married Glenn Hopper on Jan. 18, 1958, in Jerseyville and he survives.
Sally was a co-owner and operator, with her husband, of Glenn's TV and Appliance in Roodhouse for many years, she was a nursing assistant at White Hall Hospital, she then worked at Fashion Bug and JC Penny's as a sales associate, and Sally was also a registration clerk at Passavant Hospital. Mrs. Hopper was a member of the North Greene School Board for many years, the North Greene Singers, the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary serving in many roles including President, and the Liter Baptist Church. She helped establish the Greene County Ambulance Service, serving on the Roodhouse squad for several years, and she loved to travel with her husband and family.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by one son, Steve (Missy) Hopper of Jacksonville; three daughters, Debbie Kasper of Metamora, Ill., Sue Ellen (Patrick) Hogan of Darien, Ill., and Glenna Kay (Jay) Fanning of Chapin, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren, Kristin, Sean and Aaron Hopper, Geoff, Chris and Alex Kasper, William and Glen Hogan, and Madisyn, Jesse and Paige Fanning.
The family will meet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Ill.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, at Williamson Funeral with a formal graveside service and burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Relay for Life, or the Jacksonville AMVETS Post 100 Ladies Auxiliary.
