U.S. VeteranThomas Griffith age 78 of Fairburn, Georgia formerly of Majestic, Ky., departed this life on Wednesday December 6, 2006, at the Fairburn Nursing Home of Fairburn, Georgia.
He was born on February 23, 1928, in Pike County, Ky., a son of the late James Grffith and Ida Griffith.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Irene Griffith; two sisters; and three brothers.
In addition to being a retired coal miner; Thomas was also a United States Army Veteran having served in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles division; a mason; and of the Presbyterian Faith.
Thomas leaves to honor his loving memory and mourn his passing his son Thomas Griffith of Ky.; daughters Pam (Bill) Pleuss of Peachtree City, Georgia; and Deborah (John) Boatner of Knoxville, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren Kris Smith; Kim Haywood; Billy Pluess; Josh Smith; Tricia Smith; and Billy Joe Griffith; 11 great grandchildren.
Honoring services will be conducted on Saturday December 9, 2006, at 3:00 p.m., in the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel; with the Rev. Johnny Gooslin officiating; burial will then follow in the Buddy Mounts Cemetery of Majestic, Ky.; DAV Rites will be performed by the Belfry chapter 141 of the Disabled American Veterans.
The Family will begin receiving friends on Saturday December 9, 2006, at 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel.
Services will also be held in the Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Peachtree City, GA on Friday December 8, 2006, at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc., of Matewan, W.Va.
