Don was born in Tippo, Mississippi to Perry and Lena Lane. He enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was stationed in California. While there, he met and married Margaret Joanne Wilson. They set up house and raised two children.
Don worked as an Instrument Foreman for Fibreboard/Louisiana Pacific for over 25 years. He retired in 1988.
Don enjoyed Bluegrass music, Western movies, NASCAR and traveling the country in his motorhome with his wife, dogs and grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joanne, daughter, Susan Travis (Dwight), son, Steven Lane, grandsons, Alan Travis (Elizabeth) and Ryan Travis (Terry), 5 great grandchildren, Jeff, Jordan, Emlyn, Samantha, Noah, his sister, Betty Mitchell and brother, Roger Lane.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joe Lane and Kenneth Lane.
Burial will be at Smith Cemetery in Cascilla, Mississippi on Saturday, August 4th at 10am. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited by the family to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to PAWSitively S.A.F.E. (pawssafe.org) or The American Cancer Society.
