Memphian, 92, Dies, Recalled Civil War - James Ware Hunt, 92 year old Memphian and longtime Arkansas business man and farmer, died at 10:25 last night at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Hunt had been ill 16 days. He lived at 582 Poplar. Mr. Hunt was born near Rome, Ga., and was a boy of 12 at the time the Civil War battles were being fought in his home state. His father, John Hunt, was captured by the by the troops of the North and imprisioned. Mr. Hunt was permitted to visit his father in prison and take him clothes and food. He moved from Carrolton, Ga. to Jonesboro, Ark. more than 50 years ago and was in business there for a number of years. Later he moved to Lunsford, Ark., where he brought a farm. Mr. Hunt moved to Memphis in 1933 from New Mexico, where he had lived for 15 years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church at Jonesboro. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Laura Frazier of Woodland, Wash., and two sons, A.A. Hunt of Memphis and James Monroe Hunt of Lunsford. National Funeral Home is in charge.
