Pauline was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Tecumseh to James "Jim" Paul and Helen (White) Alexander. Raised in Tecumseh, she attended school in the Tecumseh area, except for about two years in Texas and a short time in Okemah. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1939. She was a member of the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association.
On April 27, 1940, she married Vernon Childers at the Parsonage of Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh.
They moved to Shawnee February of 1942.
She was employed by J.C. Penney Co. for approximately 20 years, then went to work for the Pottawatomie County Clerk's office for 13 years, retiring in 1986 as First Deputy.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Triple C Sunday School class, as well as the UMW. She was also a member of the Pottawatomie County Conservative Art Association, and the Shawnee Writers.
Pauline enjoyed her family, oil painting, writing, and work in the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Mary Corina Alexander; three brothers, Sherman Alexander, Jim Alexander and Benton Alexander; and a son-in-law, Gary C. Hale Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Childers of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Verna and Ray Wren of Shawnee, Sherry and Dean Chaffin of Macomb, and Betty Hale and her fiancé, Bob Foale of Shawnee; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Virginia Brewer of Tecumseh, Alice Ellenberger of Shawnee, Myrna Dodson of Shawnee, Marilyn and Gordon Boland of Meeker; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Jack and Maxine Alexander of San Antonio, Texas, George Alexander, Donelda Alexander of Shawnee, Donna Alexander of Torrance, Calif., and Pat Ford of Shawnee; four brothers-in-law, Ranzy Childers, Dub and Katherine Childers, Joe David Childers, and Ralph Limke; five sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wall, Deanie and Henry Isaacs, Joyce Kelly, Pat and Tommy Bowden, and Delores and Toney Prewitt; 12 grandchildren, Vernon Wren, Russell Wren, Linda Stockbridge, Alan Wren, Tosha Wren, Paula Wren, Mona Hull, Wendy Magnus, Deana Middleton, Tracy Leitner, Gary Hale Jr. and Jonna Davis; 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
